HI 01001.001 Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Premium for 2002

A. DEFINITIONS

1. Premium

The premium is the monthly amount that the individual who is enrolled in SMI must pay.

2. Announced or Promulgated Premium

The announced or promulgated premium is the amount announced by the Secretary of HHS each September that covers 25 percent of expected program costs for the following calendar year.

B. POLICY

1. General

A premium is due for each month of SMI coverage. The premium payable is increased if the individual enrolls late.

2. 2002 Base Premium

The amount of the base premium for 2002 is $54.00.
