VB 01505.001 Termination Events

Policy

Entitlement to (but not necessarily payment of) SVB continues until one of the following occurs:

  • termination after 12 consecutive calendar months of suspension;

  • request for voluntary termination; or

  • the death of the SVB-entitled individual.

Once SVB entitlement is terminated, an individual must generally file a new application to reestablish SVB entitlement unless there is a favorable appeal decision or reopening of the termination determination (see VB 02501.000).

NOTE: The following sections cite the title XVI payment status code (PSC) that refers to the specific terminating event. See SM 01305.001 for a list of PSCs.
