                        a.  
                           Generally, the validity of a divorce need not be questioned.

                        b.  
                           Proof of divorce may be needed. See GN 00305.140A.1. for when proof of divorce is required.

                        a.  
                           A divorce presupposes that the marriage terminated by that divorce was a valid one.
                              Thus, proof of divorce also usually constitutes evidence of the validity of the divorced
                              spouse's marriage to the NH.

                           Proof of validity of the marriage is required when: 
                              - 
                                 
                                    • 
                                       Development is necessary to establish the validity of the claimant's divorce from
                                          the NH; or

                                    • 
                                       Information raises a reasonable doubt of the validity of the marriage.
