The following two agencies provide SSA approved translator services for many languages
that are otherwise unavailable in the region.
NOTE: Due to privacy considerations, do not annotate the claimant’s entire Social Security
Number on the SSA-533 when faxing the request to a non-SSA translator. Include your

(FO) contact information on all SSA-533 forms.
1. Non-SSA Translators in the Boston Region

Fax the translation request directly to American Translation Partners (ATP) using
an SSA-533. Include your FO contact information on the SSA-533 form (i.e., name and
telephone). Normally, the fee is $60.00 per document.

If the fee exceeds $60.00, ATP will contact the requesting FO before completing the
translation. Seek approval from the Center for Disability and Programs Support (CDPS)
in the Regional Office when you have a fee quote over $60.00.

ATP completes most translations within 2-3 working days. ATP will fax the translation
back to the requesting FO along with an invoice for services. FOs should promptly respond to the invoice and pay the fee using the office’s government purchase credit card.
Do
not use a third party draft to pay the fee.
2. Non-SSA Translators outside the Boston Region

Fax the translation requests to The Language Bank (TLB) using an SSA-533. Include
your FO contact information on the SSA-533 (i.e., name and telephone). Normally, the
fee is $50.00 per document up to 50 words, longer documents by negotiation.

If the fee exceeds $50.00, TLB will contact the requesting FO before completing the
translation. Seek approval from CDPS when you have a fee quote over $50.00.

TLB completes most translations within 1-3 days. TLB will fax the translation back
to the requesting FO along with an invoice for services. FOs should promptly respond to the invoice and pay the fee using the office’s government purchase credit card.
