GN 03313.080 Disclosure to the Bureau of the Census (Census)

We provide general instructions for disclosing information from our systems of records to other Federal agencies and officials and a link to our systems of records and their applicable routine uses in GN 03313.001. Refer all requests from Census to the Office of Privacy and Disclosure at ^OGC OPD Controls.

Census is the leading source of quality data about the nation’s people and economy. The Privacy Act of 1974 permits us to disclose non-tax return information to Census for the purpose of planning or carrying out a census or survey or related activities, as provided by title XIII of the United States Code, without the written consent of the subject of the record. We may disclose certain non-tax return information to Census under applicable routine uses. We may disclose tax return information only with the IRS’ written authorization.
