Requirements for recomputation of WW II credits:

1. a. 

   The program service center is responsible for including military credits in a recomputation.

2. b. 

   The recomputation is retroactive no earlier than 09/1950.

3. c. 

   An application is not necessary except under the conditions in RS 00620.080B.1.

Requirements for recomputation of post-WW II credits:

1. a. 

   An application is required if a beneficiary is entitled on the record for 08/1952.

2. b. 

   If the number holder (NH) is entitled to benefits for 08/1952, do not recompute to include post-WW II credits unless:

   • •

     NH filed an application before 01/01/1961; or

   • •

     NH died before 01/01/1961.

EXCEPTION: An application filed under RS 00620.080B in this section.

The following are application requirements:

1. a. 

   Veteran must met one of the following requirements:

   • •

     a commissioned officer of the Coast and Geodetic Survey who was entitled to RIB or died; or

   • •

     a commissioned officer of the Public Health Service and had deemed active service in the WW II or post-WW II period and before 01/01/1957 who was entitled to a RIB or died.

2. b. 

   Veteran has creditable active service during the WW II period with an allied country and

   • •

     entitled to RIB or DIB before 09/01/1958; or

   • •

     survivors are entitled to monthly benefits for 08/1958.

3. c. 

   NH waived the Civil Service Annuity.

Increases based on post-WW II credits are retroactive for no more than 6 months before the month of filing, but no earlier than 09/1952.

We make the following recomputations based solely on applications filed after 1956 and are retroactive for 12 months but not for any month before 01/1957:

  Recomputations to include deemed active service as a commissioned officer of the Coast and Geodetic Survey or the Public Health Service; or

• •

  Recomputations to include wage credits resulting from waiver of Civil Service annuities. (For information on routing the claim to the Veterans Administration, see RS 01702.560.)

Limit a recomputation to include service for an allied country to applications filed after 08/1958 with 12 months retroactivity or 09/1958, whichever is later.
