19-2p explains that a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to the 95th percentile
for a child's age is generally considered sufficient to establish the diagnosis of
obesity (see Evaluation of Obesity DI 24570.001). As with adults, the amount of body fat is considered in making the diagnosis of
obesity in children.
