Use the impairment codes in this section to identify Low Birth Weight (LBW) and Failure to Thrive (FTT). See the reminders in DI 33526.075C for codes with an asterisk (*).

NOTE: Low Birth Weight and Failure to Thrive does not have any listings in Part A.

A. When LBW or FTT meets or medically equals a Part B listing

C. Reminders for choosing an impairment code for LBW or FTT

    Do not use 7649 or 7650 for a continuing disability review (CDR) continuance. [LBW is no longer considered a medically determinable impairment (MDI) after the infant attains age one.]

  • •

    Do not use 7830 if the child has attained age three before the date of the determination. Use an impairment code in the body system that is primarily affected.
