NL 00703.309 Beneficiary Planning Trip Abroad — 3 Months or Fewer

Document Identifier for Word Processor: E3309

A. EXHIBIT LETTER

Thank you for letting us know about your plans to travel outside the United States. A short trip does not affect your Social Security benefits. While you are gone, we will continue to send your checks to the above address. We assume that you have made arrangements to have the post office or someone take care of your mail.

There are three important things we will need to know about while you are outside of the United States. Let us know right away if:

  • You decide to stay outside of the U.S. for more than 3 months. We need to know this so we can arrange to continue sending your check.

  • You decide to work while outside the U.S.

  • You go into any of the following places: Cuba or North Korea.
