Improving notices is an ongoing goal of the Social Security Administration. Our notices play a large and vital role in our communication with the public and our commitment to public service.

If you work in a policy, systems, or operational component, you play an important role in the agency’s notice improvement efforts. Whether you are a notice author, reviewer, or programmer, you are a key player in ensuring that the notices we issue are clear, concise, correct, appropriate in tone, and easy to read and understand.

Familiarize yourself with the agency notice standards found in the following sections, and use the standards whenever you develop, write, revise, review, program, or issue agency notices and notice language.
