RS 00615.003 Full Retirement Age

Full retirement age (FRA) is the age at which unreduced retirement (old-age), spouse's, or widow(er)'s benefits may be paid.

A. POLICY - RETIREMENT AND SPOUSE'S BENEFITS

1. People Born 1/1/38 or Earlier

FRA for retirement or spouse's benefits is age 65.

2. People Born 1/2/38 or Later

Use the following chart to determine FRA for retirement or spouse's benefits:

1/2/38 thru 1/1/39

65 years and 2 months

1/2/39 thru 1/1/40

65 years and 4 months
1/2/40 thru 1/1/41

65 years and 6 months

1/2/41 thru 1/1/42 65 years and 8 months

1/2/42 thru 1/1/43

65 years and 10 months

1/2/43 thru 1/1/55

66 years

1/2/55 thru 1/1/56

66 years and 2 months

1/2/56 thru 1/1/57

66 years and 4 months

1/2/57 thru 1/1/58

66 years and 6 months

1/2/58 thru 1/1/59

66 years and 8 months

1/2/59 thru 1/1/60

66 years and 10 months

1/2/60 and later

67 years

B. POLICY - WIDOW(ER)'S BENEFITS

1. People Born Before 1/2/1911

FRA for widow(er)'s benefits was age 62

2. People Born from 1/2/1911 Through 1/1/40

FRA for widow(er)'s benefits was age 65.

3. People Born 1/2/40 or Later

FRA for widow(er)'s benefits gradually increases from age 65 and 2 months to age 67. Use the following chart to determine FRA for widow(er)'s benefits:
