RS 02809.010 Interim Reply to the FO on RRB Certification Cases
As soon as the Inquiries Staff determines that the case is a RR Certification case,
notify the DO (within 5 working days) by teletype. Advise the DO that RRB is being
contacted by phone and that the PC should receive a reply by the end of 10 working
days from the date of their call. Tell the DO that the PC will furnish payment and
certification data as soon as it is received. Send this teletype the same day as the
call to RRB is made.
However, if the DO message indicates the case to be a Request for Expedited Payment
under section 205(q) of the Social Security Act, tell the DO that RRB will process
payment within the established time frames for these cases.
After calling RRB (see RS 02805.040D). establish a 10-working day control and followup with RRB if a return call has not
been received by that time.
