DI 11055.395 Title XVI Notices
A. Systems-generated notices
The Disability Determination Services (DDS) provides a personalized disability notice (PDN) to the claimant in the event of a medical denial or when the DDS establishes the onset of disability later than the date of the Title XVI application.
When the DDS makes a fully favorable determination, the field office (FO) processing the claim sends out the initial award notice automatically through the Modernized Supplemental Security Income Claims System (MSSICS) for most cases.
B. Manually prepared notices
When MSSICS cannot generate a notice or when the automated notice may not provide complete information, the FO must prepare a manual notice.
NL 00801.010, Manually Prepared Notices
NL 00802.015, Completion of the Manual SSA-L8025-U2, Notice of Award
NL 00802.020, Initial Denial Notice – SSA-L8030, SSI Notice of Disapproved Claim
C. Pamphlets sent with notices
SSA uses pamphlets advising the public of rights and responsibilities regarding Title XVI claims. For a listing of notices used for Title XVI and concurrent Title II and Title XVI claims, see NL 00603.115.
