DI 13005.001 Field Office (FO) Procedures for Medical Continuing Disability Review (CDR) Cases
When the Social Security Administration (SSA) determines a review of an individual’s medical condition is necessary, we establish a medical issue for the CDR on the Disability Control File (DCF).
When conducting a CDR, the FO will:
identify and process possible medical recovery issues raised at the FO level,
obtain the prior paper folder(s) (if any) that contain the most recent favorable medical decision also known as the comparison point decision (CPD) to associate with the current CDR,
conduct a personal interview (when necessary)
establish and transfer an electronic continuing disability review (eCDR) in the electronic disability collect system (EDCS) unless an exclusion applies, and
secure information and development requests by other components (Disability Determination Services (DDS), Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR), Office of Disability Operations (ODO), Program Service Center-Disability Processing Branch, (PSC-DPB), and the Office of Earnings and International Operations (OEIO)).
