If a claimant files a HA-501 (Request for Hearing by Administrative Law Judge), and
the claimant is a career railroad worker or the disabled dependent survivor of a career
railroad worker, see DI 44001.105A the FO must:

1.
Establish the appeal in MCS/MSSICS using the Appeals Program (Banana) or manually
enter information into the appeal screens.

2.
Establish the appeal in EDCS, unless the claim is an EDCS exclusion. Add the following
message in either EDCS or eView (see DI 81010.080).
“This claimant is a career railroad worker or the disabled dependent survivor of a
career railroad worker and coordination with the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) may
be necessary. We sent copies to the GLPSC-DPB in Chicago for RRB coordination. GLPSC-DPB
will send ODAR copies of all medical or vocational evidence, as well as disability
determinations from RRB.”

4.
Send copies of the HA-501 and SSA-636 to GLPSC-DPB.

5.
Transfer the case to the Office of Disability Adjudication Review (ODAR) for a disability
decision.
If the claim is an EDCS exclusion, the FO must:

Prepare an SSA-636-U3 and add the following in the Remarks section of the SSA-636:
"This claimant is a career railroad worker or the disabled dependent survivor of a
career railroad worker and coordination with the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) may
be necessary. We sent copies to the GLPSC-DPB in Chicago for RRB coordination. GLPSC-DPB
will send ODAR copies of all medical or vocational evidence, as well as disability
determinations from RRB.”

Send copies of HA-501 and SSA-636 to GLPSC-DPB.

3.
Associate HA-501 and SSA-636 with the folder and forward to ODAR for a disability
decision.
